Robbo and his record collection

That Darn Robbo (aka Rob Carr) launches his new show Sightlines on VankleekFM and we talk with him about his 4000 + record collection and his love of all different kinds of music….

From the Sept 30, 2015 edition of The Revew:

VANKLEEK HILL – Local community radio station VankleekFM is getting another radio program added to its growing on-air schedule according to owner Jean Sarrazin. The new addition is a one-hour music program that will air Wednesday evenings, right after Vankleek Cooley – from 10 to 11 p.m.. “The new host, Rob Carr (a.k.a. That Darn Robbo), is a self-confessed tune addict, but not just any tune, mind you, and is the proud owner of a 4,000+ vinyl collection which he keeps in the basement of his Eastern Ontario home where he records his shows,” says Sarrazin.
“Robbo’s tastes range from Crime Jazz – to the Rheostatics – from Ry Cooder to Ned’s Atomic Dustbin – from The Von Zippers to Laurie Anderson, with many stops in between. His all-time favourite radio show host was David Wisdom host of CBC Radio’s Nigtlines from 1987 to 1997. That’s what inspired him to call his new show on VankleekFM, “Sightlines”, Sarrazin adds. While the new host has a large record library, he shuns the term collector. For him the term conjures up images of dusty records locked away in a safe and only taken out when they can be sold for maximum profits. While his library contains rare vinyl – for example, he’s got a Buddy Holly record that’s worth hundreds of dollars – he says he buys records that he can play and enjoy. It is from this very active and dynamic vinyl collection that Robbo makes his selections each week for Sightlines. And like his radio hero David Wisdom, Robbo will be running themes and lists on his show as well. – like a “Feature Artist Spotlight Feature” on Nicky Hopkins or a whole week’s show dedicated to covers…
But Sarrazin points out, you will have to tune in for yourself to find out if he plans to run Ten Singles in Alphabetical Order.
Tune in this Wednesday evening for an interview with That Darn Robbo about his new show Sightlines. Tune in at 10 p.m. on October 7 for the very first SIGHTLINES show.
